Description (max. 300 characters):

EES Photovoltaic Systems dives deep into 3 aspects of PV system technology:

  • Day 1: Partial shading, IV curves and hot spot calculation. Assignment: Create an Excel / Matlab-based IV curve simulation tool
  • Day 2: PV system loss calculation and simulation: Assignment: Create your own Excel / Matlab-based PV energy yield simulation tool, taking into account all relevant system losses.
  • Self-consumption: Assignment: Create your own Excel / Matlab-based self-consumption simulation tool.
Contents and Learning Objectives:

Learning objectives

  • Students can calculate IV curves of shaded PV modules.
  • Students can calculate the PV system energy yield based on detailed loss calculation.
  • Students can calculate the self-consumption based on PV production and household load curve including battery storage.
