Description (max. 300 characters): |
The most important steps in the design of electrical machines using finite element analysis are to be taught. These include the basics of electromagnetic force production and the most important relationships in dimensioning. |
Contents and Learning Objectives: |
- Fundamentals of electrical magnetic energy conversion: field terms, field equations, forces and torques, energy and secondary quantities
- Overview of numerical field calculation and simulation methods Finite element methods, in general and for electromagnetic fields
- Exercises: Magnetic circuit: Analytical solution and numerical treatment with FE program
- Application questions of numerical methods: model creation, parameter selection, selection of suitable calculation methods, discretization
- Procedure for applying numerical methods to electrical machines and actuators: GM, ASM, PMM, SRM, synchronous machines and actuators
- Exercises: FE analysis of the magnetic circuit and determination of the operating characteristics of a PM motor
- Cogging and load pulsation moments, analysis with FE methods, minimization
