  • The number of inscriptions is typically restricted

  • Module inscriptions have to be made via your advisor to the contact person as specified in the offering

  6. The respective UAS are responsible for providing Moodle courses for the EVA listed here; such courses will not be provided on the MSE Moodle installation!

Description (max. 300 characters):

Ancillary Services are necessary to guarantee the stable operation of electric transmission systems. In this module we go through all ancillary services from technical, economical, and regulatory perspective. We especially focus on the implementation in Switzerland.

Contents and Learning Objectives:

  • Fundamentals of voltage and frequency control
  • Definition of Ancillary Services and regulatory framework
  • Ancillary Services demand and dimensioning

Day 2:

  • Ancillary Services products in Switzerland
  • Ancillary Services markets
  • Knapsack based market clearing

Day 3:

  • Ancillary Service operation
  • New concepts, technologies, and market participants
  • Imbalance netting
  • Market integration

For the exercises, participants

    • bring a Laptop with Matlab and/or Python;
    • are able to write simple Matlab and/or Python programs.
